Confident Sober Women
Discovering Our Personal Core Values w/Arielle Dyment
Arielle is a recovery coach, life coach, and the CEO of My Sober Compass. As a child and a teen, she was always trying to find ways to escape herself. After having her first drink at the age of 18, alcohol began to take over her life and she lost sight of who she was, and she went to a holistic rehab facility in Canada in 2015. After going to therapy when in recovery from alcoholism, she realized she was lacking self-love--which began her journey into re-discovering her values and self-worth.
We discussed the importance of surrounding yourself with like-minded, authentic people. Arielle shares that she practices free writing to discover her most important personal core values. To do this, ask yourself the questions: "Who am I?" and "What do I want in life?" and see what comes to you. We also talked about anxiety in sobriety, and identifying how you want to feel (peaceful, content, etc.), as well as discovering our values, beliefs, and desires as sober adults without influence from others. We shared our thoughts on the importance of being aligned with our personal core values, and how we can experience things like anxiety and depression when we are not living in alignment with them.
