Confident Sober Women
The Unexpected Free Life of Long-Term Sobriety w/Christina Kimbrough
Did you feel isolated when you got sober? Christina shared her feelings of social isolation due to her sobriety and COVID. It was actually helpful that things were shut down in the beginning for her but when the world opened bac up she found she didn’t know how to socialize.
Through her own lived experience of sobriety and not having a community, she decided to create one. She was a military spouse in a heavy drinking culture and she lost all her friends when she got sober. She wanted to go out and have fun and she did see it. So Christina started planning small events and built it from there. She wanted to show multiple ways to live an alcohol-free life.
Christina shared how she struggled with managing her feelings in the first few years of sobriety. She did engage in cross-addictions as well until she learned to soothe herself and cope in a more healthy way. She knew she had to create her own sober social reality.
Marriage is generally work no matter what but even more so when issues like substance abuse are part of it. She and her husband both ended up getting sober and worked hard through counseling to rebuild their relationship.
We had a great chat about the non-alcoholic drink space and how intentional she was when she started trying them in her sobriety. She shares how NA products kept her sober and allowed her to move past the craving.
Christina Kimbrough is a dynamic speaker and the visionary founder of Free Life LLC, an innovative company dedicated to hosting non-alcoholic events and operating a pop-up non-alcoholic bar. Christina is committed to creating inclusive spaces and vibrant experiences for all.
